Here at Kettle Pond Farm we are very excited to offer a variety of educational
and fun events for all ages. Below is a list of upcoming events at the farm. Many events have limited spacing, so book a

Sunday afternoons, beginning June 29, 2008 and continuing through August Time: TBA Cost: $6.00 per person per
session Come join Angela for a close-up look at what's happening at Kettle Pond Farm. Each session will include
an interactive, informative, and hands-on introduction to the topic of the day. If you attend throughout the season you will
learn about planting, transplanting, soil sampling, mulching, weeding, harvesting, heirloom varieties, attracting beneficial
insects, soil amendments, and other topics as they occur on a working CSA farm. All Ages; registration requested to
plan for supplies *Forestry Week* Date: June 30-July 2, 2008 [Monday-Wednesday] Time: 3:30 PM -
5:00 PM Cost: $20.00 for 3 sessions Come learn to identify trees (including differences between red, silver, and
sugar maple and red, scarlet, and white oak), about leaf shapes and diseases, and about forest management. All ages;
Registration Required *Tree Measurement Day* Date: Thursday, July 3 Time: Forest Measurement- 9:30
a.m.-12:00 noon; Forest Management- 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Cost: Lunch donation Learn to measure trees using diameter
tape, Merritt Hypsometers, calipers, and more with state forester Joe Perry. Later in the afternoon, Joe will lead a workshop
about forest management practices. Attendees of Forestry Week activities are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop.
Older Children (12 and up), or younger children with parents; Registration Requested *Art at the Farm (for
children and adults)* Date: July 7-11, 2008 [Monday-Friday] Time: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM Cost: $35 for 5 sessions
(materials included) Introduction to and development of skills in the use of watercolor, charcoal, chalk, and other
media, using the farm, forest and river as subjects of art work. Related informational natural resources lessons will be an
integral part of the art class. All ages; Registration required *Art at the Farm (for Adults)* Date:
July 15, 22, 29 [Tuesdays] Time: TBA Cost: TBA Art classes for adults, led by Michelle Graca, a local artist
and teacher. *Saturday Night Farm Events* Date: Saturday evenings beginning July 12, 2008 Time:
TBA Cost: Free-will donations accepted We will have an outdoor "cooking show," preparing various vegetables
from our garden in various styles. Do you have a favorite recipe and an interested in sharing how to prepare it? Along with
the cooking we will have a variety of presentations, music, and activities, including Priority Habitat with Nancy Durfee,
puppet shows with Katia Hagerman, music with Andrew Greenwood and friends, and presentations concerning "green"
detergents, materials, and living, fibers, and raw food cuisine. All ages; Registration requested to plan for food
and supplies Note: Good Weather only *Water Week* Date: July 14-18, 2008 [Monday-Friday] Time:
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM Cost: $30.00 for all 5 sessions Attendees will learn about fish, invertebrates, and plants found
locally, fish identification and morphology, macroinvertebrates as indicators of water quality, watersheds and more. All
ages; Registration Required *River Exploration Day* Date: July 21, 2008 Time: TBA Cost: TBA
Come join Dr. David Taylor from Roger Williams University for a day of river exploration, using beach seines to collect
and identify fish and other river organisms. Attendees of Water Week activities are strongly encouraged to attend. *Basket Making* Date: TBA Time: TBA Cost: TBA In this three hour workshop with Sharon from Hilltop Gardens, you will create a "beginner basket." Ages 12 and up; class is limited to 12 participants; registration
required *Project Aquatic WILD* Date: TBA Time: TBA Cost: Donations accepted (1/2 for Kettle
Pond Farm, 1/2 for Project WILD) Kettle Pond Farm invites all K-12 educators to participate in an exciting six-hour
interdisciplinary hands-on/minds-on workshop focusing on aquatic wildlife and ecosystems. Participants will actively engage
in activities, evaluate materials for unique needs and settings, share experiences with other educators, take home ideas and
resources to integrate in to their teaching, and make correlations to national and state content standards. Scout leaders,
youth group leaders, and formal and non-formal educators find the materials and workshop experience very valuable. Hours may
be used toward obtaining PDP's. Adults; registration required.
